Rick Jolly, who has died aged 71 of complications from a heart condition, was the only serviceman in the Falklands war of to be honoured by both the British and Argentinian sides. The awards were in recognition of his achievements in managing three frontline field hospitals in which more than 1, casualties — among them around Argentinian soldiers and airmen — were successfully treated, and in later years in fostering a bold and imaginative spirit of reconciliation between the once warring armies.
