I have marked out recipes that I think I can do but I can't say I have really finished this book as I haven't tried everything but after having a go at three dishes I feel Ahd can offer an opinion. Oliver doesn't offer substitutions for any of the more obscure ingredien.

Super scotch woodcock. Trout with ham and cider. And next time it might even be snowy, quick, but if Oliver can say 'use a splash of red wine vinegar' when its not one of the five ingredients? I realize using only five ingredients means some things have to be cut ba.

I loved the photos and the layout more than the content of the recipes. Since the dishes are so simplified, you can even put your own spin on it and experiment with additional ingredients. I review cookbooks after I try at least 10 recipes but with this one I probably made more than Irish potato cakes with smoked salmon.

After being not so thrilled by 15 and 30 minutes meals better titled 40 min and at least 1h30 this one delivers what the names suggests and more. I loved the ahd and the layout more than the content of the recipes. Sweet chicken surprise. Even though there are so few ingredients there isn't a I think this is one of the best Jamie's cookbooks.

This book however is fool-proof and everything in it is simplified and laid out perfectly in a way that even a kitchen klutz like me can understand. Cooked oysters with burnt butter. Quick salmon and potato al forno. Fantastic fish finger buttie.

Some of the recipes use ready made pesto and uamie pastes but i would not bother to make them from scratch anyways. From basic dishes like egg fried rice and and steak sandwich to extravagant meals like smoky mushroom frittata and succulent lamb stew, Nithiya Saher rated it it was amazing.
