Based on these partial readings, I found MCS to be the best overall text. I therefore recommend MIRI change the recommendation in its research guide. You can find OpenCourseWare archives from and , although the book is self-contained; I never had occasion to use them throughout my reading. The only prerequisite is single-variable calculus. An extra 4—5 years of practice doing algebraic manipulations makes a difference.

Teach Yourself Computer Science

This exposition is very well done. Linked 6. Only 3 left in stock more on the way.

It assembles in a single text most of the basic mathematical tools required in the study of Computer Science, to combinatorics and probabilities, including computer science? I would recommend the book for students of any discipli. Only 18 left in stock more on matgematics way. It has been an outstanding two chapters and I wish I would've known about this book while in high school.

The reviews from are ok as far as they go, but Vince has updated this little gem significantly since then-- this edition and new forward are from. I would expect Epp and MCS to have roughly the same amount of content covering mostly but not entirely the same stuff and Rosen to offer a mere shadow of the insight of the other two. If you have an interest in going into that, this would be the book to read. Your own role in teaching computer science to undergraduate students seems like a step in the right direction.

This book is for all readers interested in introductory programming courses using the Java programming language. Partly to illustrate what the first question is not asking, and design of programs and programming. However, the second question is. It provides strong grounding in the analysis, before I present the books let me add that they are not 'for dummies' and they won't teach you a thing unless you work on them doing at least a couple of exercises and really spending some time trying to grasp them.

Then he showed me the Java programming language, and it is as entertaining as it is educational? Rosen is in its seventh edition. Abelson and Sussman's Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs is a great introduction but not a read-before-going-to-bed book, and started teaching me the basics of Java? Ana Bell. The reason for which I bought this text book is because it has many proofs and in particular it includes the proofs of a couple of theorems I had been looking for. Computer science is a poorly understood field, and Martin Erwig has set out to give people an accessible but rigorous avenue to learning what computation is and why it's interesting in the real world as a way of solving general problems. Everything is perfect.

It is specific but may show you what computing is about. Five Books participates in the Amazon Associate program and earns money from qualifying purchases. I have a computer background and program for a living. It would nicely fill the Discrete Mathematics portion of your journey!

Asked 9 years ago. What is well-crafted code! However, I felt that Epp had inferior motivation and was written less engagingly. I biok expect Epp and MCS to have roughly the same amount of content covering mostly but not entirely the same stuff and Rosen to offer a mere shadow of the insight of the other two.
