Mix the corn starch and water to create a paste for thickening. I followed the recipe exactly - went to the asian market to get the specific ingredients. I would restautant giving it a try even if you don't have the exotic ingredients!
Thanks for sharing. We needed more chilis, vinegar and corn starch for our tastes! I saw 1 teaspoon white pepper in the ingredients and I thought that was an awful lot. For the hot and sour soup, which type of rice vinegar you prefer!
