The brother and sister who sold the land to Jonas have left boxes of possessions from previous generations of owners in the basement of the hotel, and Thora agrees to go through these to see what she can find out naturally, Jonas is paying her for her time. Soon, she discovers old documents about the family's history, particularly in the Second World War, that provide plenty of real-world mystery irrespective of any hauntings.

What I liked: The premise of the story was new or at least the way that the premise was attacked; I liked how I really enjoyed this aoul. I want to begin by saying that this is a very well written piece of urban fantasy! There is a random murder thrown in and it didn't make any sense to me and all it did was make me dislike the character of Dawit a lot more.
While that's a fun empathy exercise, it's the mark of a controlling sociopath that I'm supposed to forgive him for committing murders of innocent people to protect himself.
