I usually don't read much outside of college, but when I do I usually like to stick with books that will challenge me, provoke thought, and perhaps even improve my own writing. I've always been kind of curious about the Harry Potter books, but given the size of the series it always seemed like a lot of commitment for something that I've always imagined would be shallow and cliche. Am I right in thinking this? For those who have read the books - has reading Harry Potter inspired, challenged or touched you in some way? They are very good and with each sequel you get more and a better story. You should definetly read them.
